This Bill represents a significant step forward in our collective efforts to improve the welfare of companion animals.

Rwy'n croesawu atgyfodi darpariaethau mewnforio anifeiliaid anwes allweddol fel Bil Aelod preifat a gefnogir gan y Llywodraeth, ac mae'r Llywodraeth wedi ysgrifennu at Lywodraeth y DU i fynegi ein cefnogaeth i'r Bil.

I welcome the resurrection of key pet import provisions as a Government-backed private Member’s Bill, and the Government has written to the UK Government to express our support for the Bill.

Fel cenedl sy'n hoff iawn o anifeiliaid, mae gennym ddyletswydd ar y cyd i fynd i'r afael â smyglo cŵn bach a mewnforio anifeiliaid anwes nad ydynt yn derbyn y gofal y maen nhw'n ei haeddu.

As a nation of animal lovers, we have a collective duty to tackle puppy smuggling and the importation of pets that are not receiving the care they deserve.

Mae'r Bil hefyd yn mynd i'r afael â bylchau a ddefnyddir gan fasnachwyr diegwyddor, gan leihau nifer y cŵn, cathod neu ffuredau anwes sy'n gallu teithio o dan reolau anfasnachol i bump fesul cerbyd a thri fesul teithiwr ar droed.

The Bill also addresses loopholes used by unscrupulous traders, reducing the number of pet dogs, cats or ferrets that can travel under non-commercial rules to five per vehicle and three per foot passenger.

Byddai hefyd yn rhoi'r pŵer i ni leihau terfynau ymhellach pe bai rheolau teithio anifeiliaid anwes yn parhau i gael eu torri.

It would also give us the power to reduce limits further should pet travel rules continue to be abused.
