The history of Y Pasg

Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the spring equinox, so its date moves between March and April. Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru defines Pasg as the feast held in the Western Church on that Sunday to commemorate the resurrection of Christ. The word comes, through Latin pascha and Greek, from the Hebrew name for Passover, which is why Pasg means both Easter and Passover. The Sunday before Easter is Sul y Blodau, literally "Sunday of the Flowers".
