The history of A' Chàisg
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the spring equinox, so it moves between March and April. The Scottish Gaelic Càisg comes from Old Irish Cásc, from Late Latin pascha, which goes back through Greek and Aramaic to the Hebrew name for Passover. Gaelic still uses the word for Passover too: Càisg nan Iùdhach, "the Easter of the Jews".
