Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the blas. mobile applications, website, and browser extension (“Service”) operated by blas. (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial language learning purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service, nor reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the source code.

2. Accounts

You may use core features without an account. Creating an account enables cross-device sync. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information and be at least 13 years old to create an account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
Interfere with or disrupt the Service
Scrape, crawl, or harvest content from the Service
Use AI features to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content

4. Premium subscriptions

Premium features are available via in-app purchase (monthly, annual, or lifetime). Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and are subject to their respective terms.

Billing — you are charged through your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase
Renewal — subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
Cancellation — manage or cancel subscriptions in your device’s subscription settings
Refunds — refund requests are handled by Apple or Google per their refund policies

5. Content and intellectual property

All content in the Service (drill material, UI, branding, audio) is owned by us or our licensors. Linguistic data sourced from open-source projects retains its original licence. You retain ownership of any content you create (e.g. writing practice submissions), but grant us a limited licence to process it for providing the Service.

6. Grammar Checker browser extension

The blas. Grammar Checker extension is free to install from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, Edge Add-ons, or directly from us. You do not need an account to use it. Your use of the extension is governed by these terms and by the privacy policy at /privacy.

The extension flags likely grammar errors in Irish and Welsh text you type in your browser. It is a writing assistant, not a linguistic authority. Rules and suggestions are derived from published Irish and Welsh grammars, but the extension may miss errors or flag correct forms — particularly in dialect or literary writing. Do not rely on the extension as a definitive source; always cross-reference against teanglann.ie, geiriadur.bangor.ac.uk, or a published grammar for anything that matters.

The extension is provided as-is. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of grammar suggestions. We may update, modify, or discontinue the extension at any time.

Linking the extension to a blas. account is optional. Linked features use a scoped extension token for actions such as saving words, syncing ignored suggestions, or submitting false-positive reports. You can disconnect the extension at any time from its popup.

7. AI features

AI-powered features (conversation practice, writing feedback, answer validation) require separate consent. AI responses are generated by third-party models and may contain errors. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated content. Do not rely on AI features as a sole source of linguistic authority.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for significant changes.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ireland.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
