Slea Head Drive is a 47km loop around the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, and one of the most stunning stretches of road in Ireland. It winds past sheer Atlantic cliffs, beehive huts built by early Christian monks over a thousand years ago, the Gallarus Oratory and views out to the Blasket Islands. The whole peninsula is a Gaeltacht area, so Irish is still the everyday language in the villages along the way. On a clear day you can see the curve of the earth on the horizon, and on a bad one you can barely see the road ahead, which is part of the point.
