Owain Glyndŵr was the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales.

Owain Glyndŵr was the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales. What started as a land dispute with an English neighbour in 1400 spiralled into a full national revolt, and by 1404 he controlled most of Wales, held a parliament at Machynlleth with envoys from France, Scotland and Spain, and laid out plans for Welsh universities, an independent church and a return to the laws of Hywel Dda. The English eventually ground him down, but he was never captured, never betrayed, and never surrendered. He simply vanished around 1415, and Welsh legend says he is only sleeping, waiting to return when Wales needs him again.
